Truly exemplifying public service and safety, JATC Fire Science students are put to the test at the UFA’s training center in Magna. Students are being prepared to perform the duties of a firefighter. Instruction includes training in safety, firefighting, equipment operation, maintenance, and the principles of fire science.
Did you know looking at a fly larva butt under a microscope was part of a high school medical forensics class? Mountain Ridge High School students in Mr. Schoenfeld’s medical forensics class are doing just that. They are looking for the number of spiracles. Fly larvae spiracles can be used for determining time of death.
ProStart Program students from Copper Hills and Riverton High were invited to the SLCC Culinary Institute for a tour and lunch. Students learned about the culinary program and were served delicious Filipino cuisine prepared by SLCC students.

Fort Herriman Middle School students toured the Riley Blake Designs warehouse as part of their College Career Awareness class. Riley Blake Designs is a family-owned fabric manufacturer based in Utah. But it is not all about fabric. Students learned what is involved in making a business such as this run smoothly, efficiently, and successfully on a growing global platform.
Hundreds of students, including more than 460 from the Jordan School District, participated in Utah STEM Fest. Industry representatives engaged students with information about diverse science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) career paths and related educational programs.
